STAFF and governors at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Primary School are celebrating after the school was among those chosen by the Department of education and Skills to receive a school achievement award.
Schools standards minister Stephen Timms said the awards 'celebrate the work of the entire school community' and that pupils, parents and staff deserve to be proud of their school's success.
"The school achievement awards recognise the hard work and dedication of the whole school workforce in raising standards in our schools," he added.
Chairman of governors Michael Short said: "Following a good Ofsted report last year and the award of Investors in People, this is yet another recognition of the excellent performance of the school staff.
"Under the leadership of Mrs Jacqui Davies, all members of staff work extremely hard to ensure that the children develop as whole people.
"High educational standards are a fundamental element of this development. I am delighted that the efforts of everyone on the school staff has been recognised by this award."
The school governors will be deciding how the award is to be allocated among the staff.
