ANDOVER 1st XI travelled to Cove for their first away game of the season last Saturday in very different weather conditions compared to the previous week's opening game of the season.
Cove won the toss and elected to bat against a strong Andover bowling attack and, with wickets falling regularly, amassed only 142. Although several batsman managed to reach double figures, the only Cove batsman to worry the Andover attack was No 4 bat D Smith (44), who was caught and bowled by Gareth Tate - his first wicket for his new club.
Andover were very business like in the way they knocked off the runs, with contributions from all the batsmen, but Ian Langdown (56) decided to finish the game as quickly as possible with a powerful half-century from 73 balls that included two sixes and eight fours before being bowled when going for a six to finish the match in style.
