Five Guys Named Moe, The Mayflower, Southampton
FIVE all-singing, all-dancing guys called, surprisingly enough, Moe, jump out of a radio to teach a listener a few lessons about life.
But forget about the plot because Five Guys Named Moe is all about the music.
The show takes us on an energetic tour of the get-up-and-dance swing music of Louis Jordan.
Jordan, who was a star from the mid-40s to the 60s, may not be a familiar name but his music is still well-known today.
The show features several of his tunes, including Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby?, I Like 'Em Fat Like That and Saturday Night Fish Fry as well as songs written especially for the show.
By the end of the first song the whole audience was clapping along thanks to the infectious enthusiasm of the performers and their catchy songs.
Audience members who couldn't resist the urge to get up and dance were given the opportunity to do so in a mass conga which followed an audience singalong.
Five Guys Named Moe has all you could ask of from a show and is a guaranteed good night out.
Until Saturday May 4.
