To the Editor of the Hampshire Chronicle...
SIR,-The Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral had set apart next Sunday for collections for the Church Missionary Society, but having regard to the appalling disaster which has occurred, and the fact that almost all the crew were drawn from our great neighbour-Southampton-we feel that we shall carry everyone with us when we announce that on Sunday we shall give the collections to the Mayor of Southampton, for immediate help to those who have been rendered, widows and orphans by the sinking of the Titanic. I shall be glad to receive contributions - to be added to the collections - from any who are not able to be present. Yours, &c., P.R.P. BRAITHWAITE, Vice-Dean The Close, Winchester, April 18th, 1912.
