SOUTHAMPTON Saints' women team have surprisingly parted company with head manager and coach John Donoghue.
Women's team chief executive Paul Blanchard pointed to the team's disappointing eighth place finish in the FA Women's Premier League as a reason for the decision, saying: "John took over the role of head coach at a very difficult time as the Saints were integrated into the football club.
"He did a good job in getting the club through this period, but ultimately performances have been disappointing, and a finishing position of eighth out of ten in the FA Women's Premier League, coupled with an early cup exit, is below par."
Donoghue, pictured, had been on the staff for two season. Director of football Sue Lopez will take over the day-to-day running of the team.
