Victory for Badger, Urchin II and Scooby III The fifth race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club's Spring series on Sunday
21 April saw a southerly breeze of around eight knots which swung to the west and increased to around 15 knots.
The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat off Moorhead on the eastern shore.
The multihulls were set away as scheduled at 1010 but the other starts were postponed after the Corby 35 Njos went aground in the starting area.
In the multihull class Dragonfly Scooby III went on to win by 29 seconds on corrected time from Corsair F28R Shakatak. In Class 1 racing under IRC, Tim and Chris Octon's Corby 35 Njos recovered from there grounding to take line honours but Ben James' H-Boat Badger won by over four minutes on corrected time from Small, Richard House's Humphries Prefix 22 with Eddie Lee's Sigma 33 Skybird third. Class 3 - racing under club handicap, line honours was again taken by Hunter 707 Big Boys Toys (Andrew Percival) but he was beaten on corrected time by 6 seconds by Richard Walker's Micro 18 Urchin II.
After five races with one more to X-Parrot, Big Boys Toys and Shakatak lead their respective classes.
