THE League held their festival of finals on Saturday. The first ever Trophyman Senior Trophy final was claimed by Brendon.
Jason Gosney had the ball in the net for Sporting BTC early on but was adjudged offside. All of the goal action came in the last five minutes. Brendon took the lead when Bush, crossed the ball in to man of the match Gary Joseph who deflected the ball perfectly past Osgood in the Sporting goal. A Joseph penalty put Brendon two up before Sporting managed to pull one back in injury time through Gary Phillips.
The Junior Trophy Final was between BTC Soton Reserves and AFC Hop. AFC Hop side took the lead in spectacular fashion.
BTC's Ricky Butler was unfortunate to handle outside the box and the brilliantly struck free-kick by Richie Blandford some-how found a gap in the wall leaving Andy Harris in the BTC goal no chance. BTC levelled when Pete Dyde won a header to let in Dave Butler on 25 minutes. Dave Butler then wrapped the game up with a second as he used his pace to break through for his and BTC's second.
The Vets' final proved a fitting finale to Ice Sports 20-year reign as they crushed Nursling 5-0. Ice opened the scoring in the tenth minute when Dave O'Dell headed on for Dave Harrison to score.
On 20 minutes Colin Hayward increased the lead with a looping half volley from the edge of the box.
After the break though there was no denying the Icemen's supremacy and they added three goals in quick succession in the last quarter of the game. Vinny Jones scored twice and Paul Harrison the fifth finishing off a great solo run that saw him beat four defenders before rounding the keeper and slotting home.
