THESE were the scenes in a Hampshire village when angry protesters staged a demonstration outside an animal testing laboratory.
Protesters staged a roof-top demonstration at Wickham Laboratories that has, in the past, been a target for animal rights activists.
The demonstrators were at the site in Winchester Road, Wickham, until 11.30am yesterday after a morning of angry scenes.
A dozen supporters from the Portsmouth, Fareham and Gosport animal rights group were at the laboratories to protest at plans to expand the operation to a bigger site in Lower Upham.
Along with a roof-top demonstration by two members of the group brandishing a banner, another protester chained
himself to railings inside the building.
A spokesman for the group vowed the demonstrations would continue.
He said: "The demonstration was a success in that we drew attention to how strongly we object to the planning application.
"We will carry on protesting and demonstrating against the plans to move this testing laboratory. It is completely necessary to continue to demonstrate against their plans."
Two men and one woman were arrested during the demonstration and were taken to Fareham police station on public order and obstruction charges.
A spokesman for Hampshire police said: "The incident passed off peacefully with no injuries to any parties, but we are still monitoring the situation."
