THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD Kimberley Purkis added the national novices diving title to her recent county wins when she competed in the Amateur Swimming Association's national championships held at the Quays.
Competing against 28 other entrants from all over Britain, the Southampton Academy diver pulled out all the stops for an excellent performance on the day.
According to coach Chris Jenkins, it was just reward for the hard work and commitment she has demonstrated in the recent months.
"I was so proud of her," said Jenkins. "Kimberley has been diving very well recently and deserved her win. The competition was very stiff, so she did really well."
Teammate Hayley Griggs also performed well, winning the bronze medal in the girls' 9 years event. Southampton results:

10/11 yrs, girls: 12 Emily Jones, 17 Gemma Thompson, boys: 7 Chris Farrow, 14 Adam Purkis.
12/13 yrs, girls 1 Kimberley Purkis, 18 Natasha Jenkins, 19 Rebecca Frampton, 21 Chloe Hendy, boys: 10 Jamie Martin, 16 Robert Knight.
14/16yrs, girls: 5 Christine Ridgard, 10 Melissa Harley, 15 Vicki Jones, 18 Sarah Pearce, boys: 9 Kristyan Hornsby.
Divers from Southampton Diving Academy swept the board in both the plain diving and novice events during the Hampshire Amateur Swimming Association's Championships at the Quays.
In all the club took 16 gold, 12 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Coach Chris Jenkins said: "This is a very good result for us at county level."
