Victory for X-Parrot, Big Boys Toys and Scooby III
The fourth race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club's Spring series on Sunday 14 April saw a light westerly breeze increasing to around 9 knots.
The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat off Netley on the eastern shore. After the first round the windward mark was changed as the breeze had swung to the North West.
A 15 minute postponement allowed the multihull class to get underway first at 1025 in 4 knots of breeze. Dragonfly Scooby III went on to win by 33 seconds on corrected time from sistership Triple Dutch.
In Class 1 racing under IRC, Mike Garvey's X-332 X-Parrot went onto win by over four minutes on corrected time from Ben James' H-Boat Badger with Andrew Tregoning's Fixation third.
Class 3 - racing under club handicap, was dominated by Hunter 707 Big Boys Toys (Andrew Percival) who took line honours and corrected time victory by over 1 minute 45 seconds from Sigma 33 Iskareen (Michael Perrin), with Jonathan Meeson's Trapper 250 Fantastic Mr Fox third.
After four races X-Parrot and Big Boys Toys have perfect scores of four wins each.
The RSYC Doublehanded Series starts on Saturday 20 April with the Solent Spring Double which already has 60 entries.
