LOCAL computer company boss Jason Dance is not a man to mess with - he has just become a black belt in the martial art of Wu Shu Kwan, or Chinese kick-boxing.
Jason, managing director of Starwand computers in Wokingham, started kick-boxing in October 1999 and now trains four times a week at Basingstoke Sports Centre to keep in shape.
To get his black belt, Dance had to perform four disciplines, including two choreographed routines and free sparring at two levels.
He also had to destroy a house brick, a two inch-thick plank of wood and a stack of roofing tiles.
The sport helps participants to develop balance, co-ordination, speed, power, accuracy and strength and also encourages greater courage, determination and humility, apparently.
Coach Adison Bridet said of his star pupil: "He has proved to be a great asset and is always very encouraging to other members of the class."
