RESIDENTS throughout Hampshire who were born on the Queen's Accession Day will be overjoyed to hear they will be attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate this Golden Jubilee year.
The Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mary Fagan, who is the Queen's representative within the county, appealed for individuals born on February 6, 1952 to write to the Lieutenancy Office for the chance to attend the palace in June.
The county had one of the highest response rates in the country, with 30 applications received.
All residents who applied were successful and will attend the party, hosted by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, on July 9.
Mrs Fagan said: "The response from Hampshire residents goes to show what a wonderful opportunity this is, and I am very pleased that we were able to send all the applicants to represent Hampshire at the garden party.
"This is a lovely way to celebrate the Golden Jubilee, and will be a unique experience. I am sure they will all have a wonderful day."
