Whitchurch United 0 Brockenhurst 4
WHITCHURCH must be wondering where their next goal is going to come from after recording a sixth successive blank sheet in the JWL last Saturday.
"It's been our problem all season," said the village club's Andover-based assistant manager Graham Knight, " but the conditions were bad, with a strong wind blowing directly down the pitch spoiling it."
They tried a new combination up front with Ross Soper-Dyer returning from injury to partner Tim Clayton but the home side never looked like ending their sorry sequence in front of goal and were also without their latest midfield signing Steve Reeves.
Whitchurch, without a win in eight games, were also unlucky to lose 'keeper Carl Clayton in the second half with a rib injury he sustained in the first half but gamely carried on until he was forced off 20 minutes from the end.
The difference between the two sides was the finishing of Brockenhurst striker Gareth Barnes who notched his fourth hat-trick of the season after Darren Powell opened their accoun after 25 minutes.
Whitchurch (4-4-2): Clayton (C); Lonnon, Robinson, Shaughnessy, Knight; O'Riordan, Somers, McNulty, Nurse; Clayton, Soper-Dyer. Subs: Restell (for Somers 55 mins), Burglin (for Tim Clayton 55 mins), Hack (for Carl Clayton 70 mins).
