THE JUNIOR mixed team from the Weston-based Chamberlayne club were denied a gold medal by just 0.35 of a mark at the British team gymnastics championships held in Poole.
The squad of Naomi Pike, Richard Cummins, Leah Pike, Jamie Martin, Victoria Cummins, Alex Hall, Elizabeth Hall and Richard Snook collected the silver at the championships, narrowly defeated by Pinewood club.
Chamberlayne have experienced success regularly since it opened only 18 months ago and its members have now achieved national rankings.
Twelve-year-old Jamie Martin took the silver medal in the national one men's tumbling at the British championships held in Stoke-on-Trent.
And, in the women's equivalent, Sorcha Easson was placed a commendable ninth. Easson also finished fifth at the grade 3 section, ensuring her place as a travelling reserve for the regional team at the British grade championships held later this month.
