HAMPSHIRE law firm Blake Lapthorn is holding a seminar to study the impact of late-night drinks licences in city centres and changes to the "Use Classes Order" on Thursday at St Mary's Stadium in Southampton.
The seminar - which is aimed at pub and club operators, restaurateurs, developers, and all those connected with the local leisure industry - will examine the implications of the government's proposals to review planning "Use Classes", substantially affecting the way the planning regime deals with licensed premises such as restaurants, pubs, clubs, cafes and the sale of hot takeaway food.
The speakers will comprise partners from Blake Lapthorn's planning group and licensing team, Guthrie McGruer, based in the firm's London office, and Fareham-based Phil Crier.
Phil explains: "In addition to looking at 'Use Classes', we will also be discussing the govern-ment's proposals for licensing reform, which has already seen a dramatic increase in the number of 'late bars' in our city centres in recent years.
It is important that everyone involved in leisure property and planning issues generally is aware of these changes as they will have a considerable effect on local businesses."
The seminar is scheduled to start at 4.30pm and closes at 6.30pm.
