Lymington & New Milton's surge in the Jewson Wessex League title race was halted by a 2-0 defeat at AFC Totton.

Totton remain in pole position after young reserve graduate Mark Osman scored one and made one for Scott Bundy against Lymington at Testwood Park.

But, with only three games remaining, it can surely only be a matter of time before the Stags are reeled in.

Disappointed Linnets boss Graham Kemp believes his side threw in the towel. He said: "It wasn't just the fact we lost, but the way we lost.

"We explained before the game the whole points scenario and that if we won we could realistically still win the title, but we went down without a fight. We didn't deserve anything. Totton closed us down and worked hard."

A perfectly flighted free-kick by Pete Clarke got BAT on course for a 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Victoria Park.

The Totton window cleaner caught Nick Stone off his line with an indirect 40th minute free-kick, which the Bournemouth keeper tipped into the far corner.

Adie Cheffe got BAT's second, before Paul Allsopp replied for Poppies.

Gareth Barnes notched his fourth hat-trick of the season as Brockenhurst extended Whitchurch United's lean run to eight matches without a win.

Darren Powell opened the Badgers account, with Barnes' treble sending Brock home 4-0 winners.

Bemerton Heath Harlequins snatched a seventh-minute lead through Neil Cole at Portland, but lost 3-1 with Nick Cornick, Dave Whalley and Stuart Holmes turning things around.

Evergreen Andy Rayner scored twice as Cowes Sports ended a barren ten-match run with a 3-1 win over Downton, who remain just above the relegation pair.

Midfielder Rayner opened Cowes' account and then watched 18-year old prospect Ollie Buckett get a second after eight minutes.

Downton reduced the gap through Kevin Allen, but Rayner's second - 15 minutes from time - ended the villagers' hopes of a point.

Thatcham Town ran out 4-3 winners in a seven-goal thriller against Christchurch at Hurn Bridge.
