TROJANS had no answer to an amazing display of rugby from league-champions-elect Richmond, as they stood helpless in the way of a 101-0 scoreline.

With a full strength side, all of whom have National League and Premiership experience behind them, Richmond were "immense, skilful and clinical," coach Richard Cheal admitted.

He had no complaints whatsoever. "They were 20 seconds quicker than us. We stood up in defence and before we knew what was going on, they were behind us. They are a very good side but we did not play that badly - it was just that they were exceptional."

Tottonians look like they may have to settle for fourth in London 4 after they slipped to their eighth defeat of the season, a 24-17 reverse at Farnham. Giving some younger players the chance to shine, Totts are looking at next season's challenge already and were encouraged when Mike Green and Chris Bethel, two new names to the starting line up, both scored tries.

Alton have thrown themselves a survival lifeline by defeating fellow strugglers University Vandals 27-13. They must also wait on other developments to see if they've beaten the drop.
