Eastleigh civic chiefs have unanimously agreed to call for an urgent officers' report on the possible introduction of parking restrictions on a main route in Chandler's Ford, in a bid to ease traffic snarl-ups.
Members of the borough council's Eastleigh local area committee have backed a move to put a section of Bournemouth Road, between Chalvington Road and Keble Road, under the double
yellow line microscope, as well as a section outside a parade of local shops.
Councillor Alan Broadhurst told committee colleagues he believed they had all had complaints from residents of Bournemouth Road about car transporters unloading outside Hendy's garage, and vehicles delivering to the One-Stop shop.
"We are all sick and fed-up of hearing that the road is blocked because Hendy's and the One-Stop shop insist on parking and unloading in the road."
He claimed that putting in double yellow lines would send a clear message that the council wanted action.
Cllr Broadhurst also said that parking problems all around the area were getting worse. People are leaving vehicles in Montgomery Way.
