Wimborne Town 4, Whitchurch United 0
WHITCHURCH matched Wimborne for 25 minutes but it all went pear-shaped for the visitors with the home side scoring three times in as many minutes either side of the break.
"If we had gone in at half time only one down if might have been different but Wimborne are a very a good side," said Goddard. "To be honest for games like this you've got to look at what you're trying to achieve. They have two or three players who get a lot of money for playing while we can't afford to pay anyone, and have to accept the situation for what it is."
An injury to Joe Kearney proved to be the turning point as Wimborne went ahead shortly after he limped off with a pulled muscle and the high-flying Dorset side added a second goal right on the stroke of half time.
Wimborne scored twice more in the first two minutes of the second half to kill the game off. Whitchurch might have scored twice themselves in the second half abut owed much to Clayton, a 'keeper Goddard rates as one of the best in the JWL. "He had a superb game," said the Whitchurch manager.
Goddard has made two new signings during the past week with ex-New Street youngster Paul George joining them from Salisbury and Alan Smith from King's Somborne. "They are two young lads but will give us a big more defensively," said Goddard.
Whitchurch (4-5-1): Clayton; Reece, Shaughnessy, Robinson, Caswell; Ralph, Woodley, O'Riordan, McNulty, Nurse; Kearney. Subs: Gulliver (for Kearney 23 mins), McFarlane (for Woodley 46 mins).
