A SECRET new list of proposed leisure cuts being considered by Southampton council can today be exclusively revealed by the Daily Echo.
Nearly £1m must be cut from leisure provision in Southampton and some of the city's best-loved events and venues could be for the chop.
Events and facilities being considered include:
* Scrapping the massively popular Balloon and Flower Festival that regularly attracts 150,000 people to the city to save £60,500
* Closing Oaklands swimming pool to save £280,000
* Shutting St Mary's Leisure Centre to save £181,700
* Closing Cobbett Road and Burgess Road libraries to save £112,300
* Scrapping support for the Young Archaeo-logists Club
The so called "B list" of new cuts have been drawn up in addition to the cuts already under discussion by the Labour Group.
The list is the latest in a number of embarrassing leaks of secret Labour documents passed to the Daily Echo by a mole within the Civic Centre.
The first list or "A list", published last month, includes closing either the Tudor House Museum or the Maritime Museum, cutting the world-renowned oral history project and getting rid of the public arts officer who brought in £500,000 to council coffers last year.
The bad news is that the A and B list only add up to £836,000 - that's £130,000 short of the £966,000 required in cuts to balance the books.
