THERE will be no room for sentimental farewells at Stoneham Lane - United Services coach Ivan Torpey takes charge of his final match, but Trojans are looking to mark his last day with a defeat.
Torpey, the former Havant, Services and Royal Navy scrum-half, takes up his new Hampshire rugby development officer role in the new year, but has been far from successful this season, seeing his side struggle to two wins from 11 starts.
Trojans on the other hand are comfortably situated in mid-table and can join Purley John Fisher and Old Emanuel in the top half with a victory.
Coach Richard Cheal has to move players around but is confident his side can record the double over their local rivals. He said: "We've trained hard this week and rectified some of the mistakes we have made.
"But I'm sure US will be fired up, given that it is Ivan's last game, so it will be a hard game that we must come through."
Tottonians can go into the new year in second place if they can rack up the points at basement-dwellers Warlingham and hope Old Reedonians restrict Barnes.
Only Dave Palmer is absent from a full-strength line-up; Martin Goodall, having impressed in the 51-40 friendly win at Tadley, wears the number ten shirt.
He is, however, forced to shuffle his pack with Ali Ramus joining Dave Matthews in the second row and Marc Moss, Clive Wilkes and league debutant Gareth Edwards link in the back row.
"We should be all right, but Warlingham surprised a few people a couple of weeks ago by beating Reedonians, so they cannot be taken lightly," said captain Miles Northover.
"I rate Warlingham highly, as they held us for quite a while at home last month.
"But they are bottom and I can only hope the team do not get complacent given theirs and our position."
Winchester have made six changes from the side well beaten at Gosport last week, as Norwich make the long haul to the south in London One.
The hosts gave an excellent account of themselves in East Anglia five weeks ago, only going down 18-8 following a solid performance.
They will be aiming to use the home advantage against a side who have lost three of their last four on the road - and the win was an unconvincing one, 15-3 at struggling Cheshunt.
Gosport & Fareham spring a surprise by naming former Harlequins scrum-half Ben Short in their XV travelling to mid-table Gravesend, with Jamie Daly unavailable.
Sean Fanning and Lee Evans return as Paul Maxwell and Gary Middle-ton drop to the bench, and they could move to second, depending on Portsmouth.
They host Tunbridge Wells, whom they hammered five weeks ago 42-3.
Five points clear and odds-on for promotion, Havant close a memorable year's work with a home clash with Harlow at Hooks Lane, safe in the knowledge they will enter 2002 at the head of London One.
They name 21 in their squad and will want to show a marked improvement of their perfor- mance at Romsey in the Hampshire Cup last week, where they were disappointing.
