UKRAINIAN Osadchyy Dymtro won the 12th Tadley Runners' Christmas cross-country in a time of 30min 21sec.

He was one of four runners from the Ukraine who came over courtesy of Ron Hill to give the race an international flavour.

Second man home was Wessex Road Runner Les Wrangle and third was the Army's Alan Wylde.

The women's race was won by Radley Ladies' Tracey Galbraith in 35:20, with unattached runner Sarah Paradine second and Winchester's Jan Spring completing the top three.

The men's over-40 race was won by Overton Harrier Martin Crawshaw in 34:27 and the over-50 race by Cyd Hill of Basingstoke and Mid-Hants in 34:49.

The women's over-35 race was won by Reading Joggers' Jan Withers (44:43) and the over-45 race saw Overton Harrier Liz Sandall-Ball win in 41:11.

Overton also won the mixed team event thanks to Crawshaw, Sandall-Ball and Richard Francis (38:52).

Geoff Cloke clocked 39:48 and Overton clubmate Dave Titcomb 42:40.

Darren May was the first Basingstoke and Mid-Hants man home, in 13th place, in the Hampshire Cross-Country League meeting at Basingstoke recently.
