PIRATES invaded Ventnor when the Coastal Centre invited children to hunt for treasure or face walking the plank.
Thirty-two children arrived dressed as pirates and face painting and pirate hats completed their outfits. Led by Blackbeard (aka coastal officer Emma Davies) the children engaged in various activities including pirate puppet making with local artist Theresa Grimwaldi.
The day was completed by a visit from Father Christmas who gave each trainee pirate a gift.
Michelle Francis, centre manager, said: "This is the first of many informal workshops which we will be running aimed at children and families. The success of the event is very encouraging and we would like to thank everyone who has supported us."
