A Winchester soldier has hit the mark in a shooting competition in Australia.
Lance-Corporal Adam Ball (24), a member of the British Army combat-shooting team, was up against military squads from around the world in the Australian Army skill-at-arms meeting near Brisbane.
Their opponents were from Canada, Fiji, France, Thailand, Malaysia and Brunei.
The British team brought home the coveted Commander-in-Chief's Trophy along with a host of other silverware.
For the first time, they were using the newly-modified SA80A2 rifle--and the weapon was more than a match for anything else on the ranges.
LCpl Ball, who has been in the army for seven years, is a member of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and he is based at Winchester.
His day job is maintaining and repairing weapons used by Army Training Regiment recruits.
He enjoys squash, football and golf in his spare time. His military career has taken him to Germany, America and Northern Ireland.
