BARGAIN hunters hot-footed their way to Debenhams in Southampton last night to track down Christmas gifts during the Daily Echo's first ever "privilege night" when readers were given a ten per cent discount on goods bought at the store.
Store manager, John Given, was also on-hand to pick a lucky winner from the Daily Echo's fantastic competition which gave one reader the chance to win £500 to spend on goods in the store.
Another five readers also won £100 to spend on last-minute Christmas bargains.
As well as the ten per cent discounts, readers were also able to enjoy a free mince pie and a glass of wine while they browsed around the shop - providing they showed their copy of the Daily Echo's ten per cent discount voucher.
It is the first time that the Daily Echo and Debenhams have teamed-up to stage a "privilege night". Mr Givens said: I hope it will be the first of many more to come."
The winner of the £500 prize was Mrs E Mason Forte of Guardian Court, Westwood Road, Southampton.
