Milton Keynes Kings 1 Basingstoke Bison 2
FOR THE second time this season, the Basingstoke Bison won by a single goal in Milton Keynes.
The home side had to thank the heroics of man-of-the-match Domenic DeGiorgio for keeping the score down.
The Wella-backed side welcomed back Chris Brant, after a four-game absence due to a rib injury, and he produced a solid performance in defence and gained assists on both Bisongoals.
The home side - who included six former Bison players - opened the scoring when Paul Moran netted a Dwayne Newman rebound at 4:08.
Just 101 seconds later, the visitors were level as Brant sent an inch-perfect pass to put Rich Little clear and he scored the equaliser.
The second session saw the Bison net a second goal, on the powerplay, from man-of-the-match Dru Burgess as Newman sat in the sin bin for hooking.
As the period came to a close, the home side were given a great opportunity to tie the game as Neil Liddiard joined Gary Clarke in the sin bin to give the Kings 47 seconds of a two-man advantage.
The final session saw the visitors continue to out-shoot the home side by over two to one but no more goals were scored.
The win means the Bison ended Kings' recent run of good form.
On Tuesday (7.30pm), the Bison are in Best of British Cup action against visiting Slough. Tickets will be sold on the night at £4 for adults and £3 for concessions.
