Matthew Le Tissier did more to light up the last days at The Dell than any player so it's fitting that he should be central figure at the launch of a new book chronicling the history of the ground which closed its doors for the last time in May.

Le Tissier was on hand to sign copies of Full Time at The Dell From Watty to Matty 1898-2001 for Saints fans who queued at the shop in the new Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium to snap up what they see as the perfect Christmas present.

Long-time Saints fans Dave Juson and David Bull have collaborated on the book, Juson as the writer, Bull the editor. Published by Hagiology, who have specialised in some compelling Saints history books over the years, the softback is priced at £16.95.

The Dell may have gone but through Juson's words and some nostalgic old pictures, it lives again.

The ground meant so much to the fans who, in a special section of the book, recount their own lasting memories of the place.

Le Tissier memorably scored the last league goal at The Dell, and that's where the story begins. Prepare to be wafted back in time...

Full Time at The Dell is on sale at most leading bookshops in Southampton as well as the club shops at St Mary's and the West Quay Centre.
