SOUTHAMPTON'S favourite pop star has added his voice to the Daily Echo Save Our Stuffing campaign by admitting it is a seasonal must with Christmas poultry.
And Craig David, famed for chart-busting hits such as Seven Days and Walking Away, has boasted he is not content with just traditional sage and onion and will have several types of stuffing on his table this Christmas.
The 20-year-old superstar who grew up on the city's Holyrood Estate, is also big on bread pudding but has an especially soft spot for stuffing.
But thousands of schoolchildren across Hampshire will not have the same opportunity as their pop idol to enjoy a traditional turkey and all the trimmings.
The county council has dropped stuffing from the school menu - but the Daily Echo campaign hopes to raise enough support to get it back as a Christmas dish of choice.
More than 80,000 Christmas dinners will be served this year in some 450 schools, all without stuffing, because council chiefs claim youngsters don't like it.
They claim it is a waste of money because huge quantities of the seasonal accompaniment are thrown into the bin every year.
Although the multi-million selling pop star is not particularly keen on turkey and will be eating chicken for Christmas dinner, he will certainly be tucking into his stuffing.
He said: "We'll have chicken because I'm not really a big fan of turkey. On the side we'll have onions, swede, sprouts, cabbage and bread sauce. I meet a lot of people who've never eaten bread sauce and all I can say is you're missing out big time.''
