Vospers 0, Stockbridge 1

STOCKBRIDGE knocked Vospers off the top of the Hants Premier last Saturday - and the performance summed them up perfectly.

'Bridge showed that they are good enough to compete with the best but such is their inconsistency that they are just as likely to slip up against one of the also-rans next week. This time however they concentrated on the task at hand.

They frustrated high-flying Vospers to such an extent that they just ran out of ideas and then 'Bridge broke out to complete the coup de grace with a 75th minute winner from Paul Sanders.

"It was a top performance against a top team," summed up player- manager Barry Andrews. "We played really well, we had a system and stuck to it. I was pleased with the whole team's performance. If we played like that every week we'd be in the top four instead of the bottom four."

Sean Sanders proposed move to local rivals Andover New Street looks in doubt. Andrews admitted that Sanders had signed a transfer form but now intended to stay with 'Bridge. "We've now written to Street informing them that Sean has decided he wants to stay with us," said Andrews.
