A MOTORIST was found asleep in his parked car after he had been drinking, a court was told.
Mark Gregory, 29, was found slumped over the steering wheel of his Vauxhall car by police officers. The engine was still running.
Fareham magistrates were told how Gregory, of Oak Road, Bishop's Waltham, had been out drinking before he was found parked partly on the pavement of Old Turnpike, Fareham.
Nigel Hodkinson, defending, said: "Mr Gregory's wife had been driving the car but the couple had an argument resulting in her leaving him there.
"He didn't want to go home so just stayed in the car where the police found him in the driver's seat."
Gregory was found guilty of being in control of a car while over the legal alcohol limit. He had denied the charge on the grounds that he had not been driving.
Gregory, who is already banned for three years for a previous motoring offence, also admitted not having any insurance or valid test certificate for the car.
He was sentenced to a community rehabilitation order for a year and banned from driving for six months to run alongside his existing ban.
Fareham magistrates also ordered him to pay £75 in costs.
