Trojans are riding high, top of Hampshire League Division 1, after a seventh straight win.

They beat Haslemere 3-2 to remain two points ahead of Wimborne Wayfarers - but with a warning ringing in their ears from skipper Campbell Williams not to over indulge during the Christmas break.

"The lads have been magnificent in the past month but our entire season hinges on the outcome of the three games immediately after the Christmas break," he said.

"Win them - or at least not lose - and we will be in business. Promotion is in our own hands."

Trojans overcame heavy Haslemere pressure to take a 2-0 lead - with both Chris Rhodes and Suni Bolina scoring superb individualist goals.

It was Williams's creativity - a defence-splitting 60 yard pass - that opened the way for Chris Rhodes to score the first, and a deftly-executed lob by Bolina which brought about the second.

Haslemere got a goal back to spark off a heated second-half full of green (warning) cards, but Trojans rode the storm to score a third and decisive goal through Colin French, created by Wayne Shepheard.

Chris Stokes bagged his 14th goal of the season as Southampton went nap to whip Blandford 5-0, with Chris Ellis (2), Kelvin Wyatt and Ed Danby also on target.

Lowly Southampton University celebrated their first win, a 2-0 defeat of Yateley.

There's just two points in it at the top of Division 2, where a Patrick Bass brace and a single goal by Paul O'Connell clinched a 3-1 win for Fordingbridge at United Services.

Gosport, the early pace-setters, are slipping behind after a 2-1 defeat at Salisbury, where Mike Higgins saw his fifth minute goal wiped out.
