SOUTHAMPTON Running Club took the senior men's team accolades in the Victory 5 Road Race at Portsmouth.
Led home by Army man Rod Finch, SRC finished with 93 points, well ahead of Aldershot, Farnham & District (158) and City of Portsmouth (206).
Fourth-placed Finch finished ten seconds adrift of Basildon's race winner Rob Denmark in 23 minutes and 28 seconds while, slightly further down the field there was a fascinating duel between two of Hampshire's brightest young guns, Michael East and Team Solent's Angus Maclean.
Former Portsmouth athlete East, now a member of the Newham & Essex Beagles club, came 11th in 23.50 with 20-year-old Maclean hot on his heels in 12th (23.52).
Top woman was vet-35 Lucy Elliott, the Southampton-based Shaftesbury Barnet athlete, who led the field home in 26.31.
