PUPILS from Andover's primary schools packed into the Guildhall to enjoy the Hampshire Primary Science Fair.

The aim of the two-day event was for businesses to provide children with an insight into the role of science and technology in the world of work, while supporting the educational national curriculum.

Organised by First Partnership, part of the education business Partnership network, pupils enjoyed a variety of exercises.

Organisations taking part included RAF Middle Wallop, Hampshire Fire and Rescue, Hampshire Constabulary's fingerprint bureau, Corus, Birdworld, McDonalds, Youth Options, Countryside Foundation, Cricklade College and Test Valley Borough Council.

At the Corus workshop, pupils were given the chance to experiment with shapes and sizes by building structures, including towers from newspapers.

Linda Barnes, of First Partnership, added: "Science is all around us, but pupils don't always realise this. The aim of the fair is to link the schools' science curriculum with the science used in everyday life, particularly the world of work."

Schools taking part included Grateley Primary, Broughton Primary, Hurstbourne Tarrant Primary, Amport Primary, Vigo Juniors, Vernham Dean Gillum's Primary, Andover C of E Primary, Anton Juniors, Knights Enham Juniors, Smannell and Enham Primary and Balksbury Juniors.
