The river flows serenely,
Water crisp and cool and clear.
Moving like a dancer, disciplined yet free.
Creating total beauty, almost art upon a slate,
Yet forever changing, developing and adapting.
The water so intelligent, gliding over stones,
Meandering across the varying land forms.
The water is so brave, continuously travelling on,
Not stopping through fear or halting at a barrier.
At parts it speaks excitement as it rushes on its way,
At times, more calmly absorbing, collecting thoughts.
Maybe the water does not breathe,
Yet it speaks and bursts with life.
The water is so caring, helping others devotedly,
Feeding the essential nutrients, or perhaps directing a route.
The water of the river, exploring, forever learning,
Educated and prepared for a never-ending journey.
Basking in the sunshine, a reflection of contentment,
Never once a mention of ever giving up.
The future is unknown, yet the water unperceiving. Wanting to be shown and taught,
To ease the fear of the followers,
The water forever giving, tires yet never stops.
The water seems protected, unable to be hurt,
Blocking off emotional pain or simply not allowing space.
It seems the water can do no wrong,
"Please take it with you too".
I dream to feel the water cleansing my soul,
Replacing my fears with direction.
I will allow myself to be re-educated if only the water will let me,
Swallow such power of life.
