SWANMORE tennis veteran Di Hill has won her first national singles title.
She did it playing in the veterans 50-years age group of the National Grasscourt Veterans Championships at Wimbledon.
Hill (pictured right) had to battle through a two-and-a-half hour semi-final on her way, beating Dianne Grundy of Suffolk 6-4 6-2.
And she had another titanic battle in the final before overcoming Marjorie Love of Scotland 4-6 6-1 6-2 to gain revenge for a narrow defeat by Love in last year's final. At least this year's final was quicker - two-and-a-half hours compared to four last year.
Hill had more success in the ladies' doubles when she and partner Frances Taylor, the Great Britain captain, beat Love and Lilian Gee of Lancashire 6-3 6-3.
The victory made Hill and Taylor triple national champions, having won the indoor title at the David Lloyd club, Heston, and the hard court Championship at the West Hants Club, Bournemouth.
Hill has been selected to represent Britain in the Maria Bueno Cup in Austria this month.
