Fareham TOWN are hoping that former boss, Mark Chamberlain, will continue to work with the club.

The former England international, who was in his second spell at Cams Alders, was asked to step down as manager, following a meeting last week between club chairman Bob Ralls and principal shareholder Nick Ralls.

Director of football Duncan Pratt took charge of the team last weekend, and they stormed to a 4-1 win over Moneyfields.

A statement released by Fareham yesterday said: "As a result of these discussions, it was agreed that Mark Chamberlain would stand down as the club manager with effect from Friday, December 1.

"It was further agreed that Mark Chamberlain would consider other options that were proposed at the meeting by the chairman that would ensure that he continued to make a contribution to Fareham Town Football Club."

Bob Ralls told the Echo that they were in discussions with Chamberlain. He explained: "The committee looked at the situation and felt there was a bit of a dilemma concerning the current mix of players. We have made new signings and feel we should go for a new approach.

"I am sad to see Mark step down but stress we are meeting with regards to a different role for him at Fareham Town."

Following the changes, assistant manager and coach Reg Woodford stood down to allow new manager Pratt to recommended a new management team to the board of directors.

The statement added: "Reg Woodford has given many hours of commitment and effort in a voluntary capacity to Fareham Town Football Club.

"It is hoped that after discussing the matter further with him he will consider remaining at the club and contributing to future development."
