A CHANDLER'S Ford company is offering a reward of up to £2,000 in a bid to track down burglars who broke into its premises in Electron Way and unsuccessfully tried to crack a safe.
Intruders used a sack trolley to move the safe at APW Electrical and broke into a locked machine room to find tools to tackle opening the safe.
But when they failed, they stole £2,500 in power tools from the machine room and also made off with a mobile phone and a payphone, which they ripped off a wall.
Now, the company - which makes electronic enclosures for the telecommunications industry - is putting up a reward for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the raiders.
Police say the burglars left the premises with a variety of drills and saws plus other hand tools.
PC Iain Wilson, of Eastleigh police, said: "There must have been at least three people, if not more, involved in this break-in because of the weight of the safe, which was transported downstairs on the trolley and the number of power tools that were stolen.
"We hope news of this reward will help jog people's memories and we want to hear from anyone who knows anything about the break-in or the people who may have been responsible."
Police say the raid happened sometime overnight between Saturday and Sunday November 3 and 4. Anyone with information is asked to contact Eastleigh police on 0845 045 4545 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
