SAINTS striker Uwe Rosler is back on the south coast after a month's loan with West Brom.

The German marksman scored one goal in his five appearances, but has not secured a permanent move at The Hawthorns after boss Gary Megson finally signed long-time target Danny Dichio from Sunderland for £1.25 million.

Megson said: "I spoke with Uwe before the game and explained that the player I'd been chasing a long time, Danny Dichio, had joined us.

"I told him that not only would we not be looking to extend his loan but that we wouldn't be looking to sign him either."

Rosler has made just ten league and cup appearances since joining Saints from TB Berlin in July last year.

He started the first three Premiership games of the cur-rent campaign under former boss Stuart Gray.

Megson sent Rosler back to Southampton before Sunday's Division 1 game at Wolves, admitting: "I felt it wouldn't be fair to give him another kick in the orchestras by putting him on the bench when he'd done nothing wrong.

"Although his loan did not finish until today, we allowed him to go back to Southampton early, because he was disappointed, which I understand.

"But I've got to look at what's right in the long-term for this club and it was my decision not to include him."
