AN almost sleepless night raised over £1,000 for the special baby care unit at Salisbury hospital.
Some 14 care assistants from the Wallop Resid-ential Home at Nether Wallop enjoyed a dormitory feast and fortified themselves with a few glasses of wine before trying to settle down for the night in a haunted building in Amesbury.
Bumps and other noises accompanied by doors opening and shutting without reason made sure they spent the hours of darkness wide awake.
Eventually tiredness overcame them and they managed just two hours of disturbed sleep before breakfasting in a nearby caf where the owners opened up early for them.
Some of them would do it again, but others were adamant that one experience of a spooky night was quite enough.
Those taking part not pictured were mother and daughter, Eva and Amanda McWilliams, Tracey Whitehorn, Claire Wigg, Debbie Winslade, Theresa Buckler, Kirsty Haycock, Susan Beavis, Donna Gillott and Lizzie Fullerton.
