Lord of the Flies, Salisbury Playhouse, Pilot Theatre Company
HAPPILY, although Lord of the Flies is about a group of schoolboys who crash-land on a desert island, this production was performed by adults rather than precocious escapees from drama school.
The audience, however, was full of children and the production, with its dance music soundtrack and modern dancing and lighting, was very adolescent-friendly.
It was also very fast-paced and kept the audience riveted for two hours.
The cast was generally strong, particularly Glyn Morgan in the role of the everyman character, Ralph.
But unfortunately, a couple of members of the cast took over-acting to new levels.
Philip Dinsdale, who played the bloodthirsty Jack, seemed to have forgotten what it was like to be a young teenager and decided to do an impersonation of Rick Mayall in The Young Ones instead, reducing his character to a panto villain.
