It took one of the fastest course times ever recorded to deny Southampton Running Club's Paul Buckley victory in the Gosport Half Marathon.
Buckley led home a 12-strong band of SRC men to finish overall runner-up in one hour, ten minutes and 30 seconds.
But that was over two minutes adrift of the winner, Great Britain international Richard Szade of the Newport Harriers club, who blazed round in 1.08.25.
Next Southampton man home was Michael Twomey, pictured above, in fourth place (1.11.42), followed by Alan Tulip 18th (1.18.55), Alan Doney 48th (1.26.20), Paul Harvey 99th (1.33.41), Kim Batten 109th (1.34.58), Gary Bryant 112th (1.35.09), Ken Hawkins 162nd (1.41.12), Simon Reason 241st (1.53.44), Ken Williams 255th (1.55.56), Chris Bedford 289th (2.09.18) and Michael Masterman 290th (2.09.18).
Havant AC's Kathy Bailey, who hails from the New Forest, continued her fine run of form to take the senior women's title in 1.19.01. It placed her 19th overall.
