A NEW programme for particularly able pupils has been set up at Winton School.
The key stage three enrichment programme follows on from the success of the summer school for able and gifted children held during the summer holidays.
The programme is offered to those pupils in key stage three who have proven to be particularly able in certain academic areas.
Co-ordinator Richard Clark, who teaches science at the school, said:
"The purpose of the programme is to widen the horizons of young people, enabling them to access a variety of areas, in addition to the normal curriculum. "The programme is also designed to forge links with organisations outside of school that can offer interesting and fun opportunities for learning."
The students are currently using their computing and reporting skills to produce a newspaper to inform the school of events taking place in key stage three, featuring news, sport, gossip columns and activity pages.
The newspaper is designed to be a forum for the whole school to benefit from and take part in.
