THE villages of Broughton, Bossington, Houghton and Mottisfont have a new minister, the Rev Ron Corne.

He arrived several weeks ago and is still finding his way around the picturesque rural villages on the famous River Test.

At home in Broughton rectory, overlooking the church and the beautifully-preserved dovecot - which once supplied food for the villagers - he confessed that in 'finding his away around' he was enjoying listening to the 'many wonderful people' he had already encountered.

Each village he said had its own special character and each had its own special problems and special strengths.

Mr Corne was born in Hampshire and although he has spent some years away, knows the county well.

His previous parishes were King's Worthy and Headbourne Worthy in the Winchester diocese.

His style is welcoming, approachable and understanding and he is intent that his ministry should follow the same guidelines.

"The church is there for everyone.

"Many people have lived here for so many years, they are real residents of the villages.

"But each person however long they have been here, is important."
