BANISTER PARK soared to the head of Group L in the Famous Grouse Home Nations Classic with a 15-0 roasting of Dolphin A.

Even without leading light Ken Marsh, the Eastleigh club won on shots by a massive 99-32, their most convincing result coming from Brian Dibdin and Ken Prior who took the pairs 33-5 at Stoneham Lane against Roger Tidby and Paul Hayes.

Trevor Comley, Denny Murrey and Barry Bendall gained a 19-14 triples success on their own carpet against Paul Spetch. While at Poole, Danny McEwan caned Paul Mullender 21-3 in the singles and John Joslin's rink sailed to a 26-12 fours victory against Keith Power.

After their defeat by Banister Park last month, Atherley bounced back by beating Bournemouth 13-2 and in doing so clocked up a century of shots 101-44.

Steve Henry and Denny Graydon (pairs, 29-11 against Paul Turner) and John Barter, Mick Barrett, Billy Groves (triples, 28-6 against Colin Garment) cruised in at Bournemouth with Larry Collins, Dave Edmonds, Dave Archibald and Peter Line slamming Dave Nash 30-6 in the fours at Hill Lane.

Atherley's David Bishop failed to make it a whitewash losing the singles 21-14 to Chris Daniels. Loddon Vale began their Group M fixtures falling 9-6 (81-65) to Adur.

At Basingstoke, Duncan Rogers won his singles 21-15 and Mick Tooth went down 21-17 in the fours.

In Sussex, the triple of Barry Allard, John Smith and Doug Morgan triumphed 17-11 but Dave Rice and Brian Salmon took a 34-10 battering in the pairs.

The Isle of Wight gave a far more determined performance than the 15-0 (75-55) scoreline against Victory suggests.

Iain McKenzie (singles, 21-12) and Colin Hayward (fours, 17-13) were solid at Portsmouth with Matthew Marchant and Charlie Bailey snatching a last-gasp 20-18 pairs win, and Darren Griffith (triples, 17-12) successful on the island.
