A WOMAN was indecently assaulted by a man who had been following her as she walked home from Portchester railway station.

The 23-year-old, from the Fareham area, was attacked at The Keep after a man approached her from behind asking directions to Weston Way.

When the woman didn't know, the attacker became agitated, and as she walked away he put his hand up her shirt.

The victim hit the man with her bag but he escaped in the direction of Castle Street. She has told police she became aware of someone following her as she passed the town's precinct.

The attack happened two weeks ago today, but Fareham police, who hope witnesses will come forward, have only just released details.

Sgt. Andy Houghton said: "We are hoping that people will remember the two people involved in the attack by their descriptions.

"Although some time has passed it was two weeks ago to the day so that may help our inquiries."

The attacker was described as white, between 20 to 30 years old, about 5ft 5in and wearing glasses. He had a skinhead-style haircut.

According to the victim, her attacker had an unusual fast walk, which he did with arms outstretched.

The woman was walking along The Keep about 5.30pm, dressed in a thigh-length black skirt, denim jacket and boots.
