Cardiff Devils 5, Basingstoke Bison 7
DRU Burgess scored his first away hat-trick in the league as the Basingstoke Bison won in Wales over the Cardiff Devils 7-5.
It took just 71 seconds for the visitors to open the scoring as Gary Clarke netted, but a minute later Devils' man-of-the-match Matt Myers had equalised.
The home side then took the lead thanks to Paul Sample, but Chris Brant, with a slap shot just inside the blue line, cancelled that out at 14:32.
Just 14 seconds later, Stuart Potts made it 3-2 and then Lee Cowmeadow gave the home side a two-goal lead 90 seconds later.
The Bison pulled a goal back in the final minute of the period as Burgess netted his first.
The Wella-backed side scored twice in the first four minutes of the second period from Derek Higdon and Clarke to take the lead.
The first penalty of the session saw the Devils equalise as Marc Twaite netted in the final seconds of the powerplay.
It was left to Burgess to complete the scoring with two goals to secure his hat-trick and a 7-5 win which moved the Bison to fourth in the league.
