SAINTS are set to rock Blackpool with a bid for in-form striker Brett Ormerod.
Gordon Strachan has been impressed by the 25-year-old who has already scored 16 goals in 20 appearances this season.
However Blackpool boss Steve McMahon is determined to hold on to his leading marksman and has said it would take silly money to prise him away.
Millwall have already had an £800,000 bid turned down so Saints would surely have to go to at least £1 million although they could face competition from Leicester.
Dave Bassett is rumoured to be interested in the speedy five foot 11inch striker who is hot on the heels of Shaun Goater to be the country's leading goalscorer.
Ormerod was the play-off hero for the Seasiders in last season's promotion campaign.
He scored twice in each of the semi-finals against Hartlepool and got the winner against Leyton Orient at Cardiff.
He has been in equally impressive form this term with 11 goals in 16 league games plus five in four cup-ties having joined the Seasiders from Accrington Stanley in 1997 after being freed by Blackburn as a youngster.
Meanwhile Saints have completed the £1 million signing of Ecuador captain Kleber Charla who passed a medical late yesterday afternoon at the Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium.
The 30-year-old, who can play on the right or left wing, was expected to train with his new team-mates for the first-time this morning.
But he is thought unlikely to start Saturday's crunch game at Derby having only arrived in the country yesterday.
