ANNUAL elections for Andover Youth Council are being held next week and the town's youth is being asked to stand as candidates.
The request has come from the youth council, working with Test Valley Borough Council and the Youth Service.
The youth council operates as a voice for young people and its role is to work to make a positive difference for young people living in the area.
In the past, the council has put forward ideas for Circuit 2000- and 2001, the all day music festival at Thruxton circuit, and pushed for the skate park to be developed. New plans for events ands tournaments are also under discussion. In addition, the youth council also leads debates on young people's feelings on local authority and youth service initiatives and can put forward ideas to borough councillors and borough officers.
For information on how to become a lead member contact Phillip Matthews on 01264 368547 or e-mail pmatthews@testvalley.govuk.
The elections are at council headquarters, Beech Hurst in Andover on Tuesday.
