HUGE cheers filled the grounds of Whitchurch Primary School on Tuesday when former chairman of governors Alison Wall officially opened the outdoor classroom.
The facility offers a large patio area filled with benches for pupils to use, either as a quiet area or for teaching lessons.
Headteacher Remus Sawyerr said: "One of the aims is to give teachers a base when working outside, or simply somewhere to come and tell a story."
Mrs Wall, who gave the school a sundial as a leaving present, said: "It has been a wonderful project and it's going to be magnificent next year and in the years to come."
Funding for the classroom included money raised from fundraising events by the Friends of Whitchurch Primary School, a large donation from Portals and money from the school budget.
Mr Sawyerr said: "There has been a lot of hard work from the whole school community."
