ENHAM Trust has helped to raise £70,000 for disabled people at an annual event in London.

The trust is now working in an enabling partnership with the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (RADAR).

The event also acted as a launch pad for the new initiative. RADAR's People of the Year awards celebrates human endeavour and honours achievement and courage in individuals who have overcome a disability. The awards were presented by Enham's patron, the Duchess of Gloucester and the address was given by the enabling partnership's founder president, Lord Owen.

Winners included athlete Tanni Grey, former racing driver Sir Jackie Stewart and Pam Warren, a survivor of the Paddington rail disaster. Enabling partnership members, Enham, RADAR, the National Federation of Shopmobility and Holiday Care will now work together, through lobbying, training, care and employment to offer new opportunities for disabled people to live successful and independent lives.

The money raised at the London People of the Year awards event will support that work.
